Special Note -  A fine example of quality Japanese craftsmanship made with Hakurai-Hagane (please see explanation below), this 715 Royal is an exquisite vintage razor.  New-old stock, the blade is clean with a strong consistent factory grind pattern.  There are very light contact marks near the toe where the blade meets the scales.  The bevel is narrow, crisp and even.  The spine is clean with no signs of hone wear.  The blade is tight (stays open at any acute angle) and closes perfectly centered in its scales.  The scales are a beautiful black with the Royal metal insignia clean and intact.  Although made several decades ago, this new-old stock 715 Royal Razor is in pristine condition.  Comes with its original box as pictured and a copy of the original Royal Razor paper.

This Royal would make a wonderful addition for any enthusiast's collection.  Be the first to use this gem and add this vintage razor to your personal rotation.  A beauty to keep for a lifetime.

    Additional note regarding Hakurai-Hagane (舶来鋼)

Hakurai-Hagane refers to the type of steel that was used making this razor. 舶来 (hakurai) is the old Japanese word for "imported" when everything came by ship. (舶 is the word for "ship").  So Hakurai-Hagane means "steel which has come by ship", in reference to the Swedish Steel this Royal was forged from.

    HHT

    Spoiler

Condition: hair moistened, tip out/root in

HHT-0 - shave: The hair can be shaved immediately at the holding point. This is strictly spoken not a true HHT, but it does tell us that the edge is capable of shaving. [all other attempts must be made at least half an inch from the holding point]

HHT-1 - violin : The hair doesn't cut, but it "plays violin" with the edge. This is due to the shingles catching the edge, but it's not sharp enough to penetrate. On a full hollow razor, a faint ringing sound can be heard. On all razors it can be felt with the fingertips that hold the hair.

HHT-2 - split: When it is dragged across the edge, the edge catches the hair and splits it lengthwise.

HHT-3 - catch&pop: When it is dragged across the edge a bit, the edge catches the hair and pops it. The severed part will jump away.

HHT-4 - pop: The hair is popped immediately when it touches the edge. It still jumps away.

HHT-5 - silent slicer: The hair falls silently as soon as it touches the edge.
