    1. 42

      Barrister and Mann

For Towel Day, the commemoration of Douglas Adams’ authorship of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Barrister and Mann presents our tribute to his brilliant work: 42, a fragrance that smells of petunias, ambergris, tea, and Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster (lemon sugar). Grab a copy of the Guide, a cup of tea, and your shaving brush; it’s going to be a hell of a ride.

    11. Cairo

      Tallow+Steel

Real Egyptian jasmine and neroli concoct a fresh floral aroma, revitalizing antiquity as the zest of bitter orange illuminates the blare of the bustling streets of the age-old city. The deep zing of the Egyptian citrus is sedated by the softness of warm benzoin to accomplish a striking blend between serenity and intensity: a re-embodiment of the city and its mythical history.

Cairo is warmed by hints of resinous notes from frankincense and myrrh, entrancing you back to the roots of the pharaohs who ruled many years ago, subdued to perfection by the herbaceous touch of Egyptian geranium, and then merging the past with the modern green freshness of violet leaf.

    59. Shikoku

      Tallow+Steel

Featured prominently is the sweetness of a mandarin variety grown high in the hills of Japan for over 400 years: the mikan. Their growth is enchanted by the ocean breeze from the Uwakai Sea below and the sun above, before they are tenderly hand-picked from their terrace of trees by local farmers.

The brilliant visual displayed on the mountain-faces of Shikoku is one of green and orange, sprinkled with ripe yellow yuzu. A lush tree bears flavourful fruit with intense tanginess, the colder temperatures high in the Kochi mountains entice the refreshing acidity of the golden fruit to bloom.

Blended to enhance the exotic sweetness of the mikan and the bitter yuzu is the sour amanatsu - another of Japan’s well-respected brightly coloured citrus hybrids.

Closing the citrus fusion is the iyokan - a tangerine / mandarin cross, with its fragrant subtly tart but deeply poignant fragrance - known to any who peel back its shiny thick skin. The tart hallmark of iyokan rounds out a stunning blend of rare citrus hand-delivered to North America straight from Japan.

This intense citrus blend is unified by the warm spice of Japanese shoga (ginger), the uplifting notes of sencha (green tea), and some very soft woodsy notes from two varieties of cedar, hiba and sugi.

    60. Sicily

      Tallow+Steel

Inspired by our time touring the island, this fresh, classic aroma starts with a citrus blend from essential oils produced on the island: lemon, blood orange, and petitgrain, and is joined by bergamot from nearby Calabria. The citrus accord is accompanied by an herbal blend of Italian rosemary, and a unique lavender grown high in the Italian Alps.

Fresh, crisp and inviting like the island itself, Sicily is a perfect warm-weather fragrance.

      — vendor

    61. Spiced Fougère

      Tallow+Steel

Spiced Fougère began with the classic fougère triad: absolutes of tonka bean, oakmoss and lavender. Tonka bean, a legume from South America, brings a natural coumarin component – a complex smell of sweet hay and fresh grass. The addition of bergamot brings a clean fresh edge that is warmed by woodsy notes of Texas cedarwood and patchouli.

Craving a scent worthy of winter, we embellished the classically fresh green fougere by uniting some of our favourite spices (cardamom, allspice, West Indies bay, and vanilla), and resins (frankincense, myrrh, and labdanum.)

Fresh and green greets warm and sweet, rendering a perfectly smooth winter holiday fougère. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.

    62. Stay Traditional

      Officina Artigiana

The fragrance chosen for the Officina Artigiana Stay Traditional shaving line is citrusy, with predominant notes of grapefruit softened by lemon peel on a bed of peach and wild strawberries. The central notes are ozonic and saline that close by dancing on a base of white musk.

      Santa Maria Novella

Fragrance Notes: Woody oriental. Top: Calabrian bergamot, jasmine. Middle: Tuscan tobacco leaves, birch leaves, spices. Base: cedar wood, vanilla, burnt malt.

Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella's Tabacco Toscano fragrance takes its inspiration from the famous Tuscan cigar made by Manifattura di Lucca. It is a bouquet of woody oriental notes that blend well with smoky vanilla base notes. Catherine de’ Medici Queen of France used tobacco as a remedy for migraines. In fact the plant became known as “Herba catharinaria”.

    HHT

    Spoiler

Condition: hair moistened, tip out/root in

HHT-0 - shave: The hair can be shaved immediately at the holding point. This is strictly spoken not a true HHT, but it does tell us that the edge is capable of shaving. [all other attempts must be made at least half an inch from the holding point]

HHT-1 - violin : The hair doesn't cut, but it "plays violin" with the edge. This is due to the shingles catching the edge, but it's not sharp enough to penetrate. On a full hollow razor, a faint ringing sound can be heard. On all razors it can be felt with the fingertips that hold the hair.

HHT-2 - split: When it is dragged across the edge, the edge catches the hair and splits it lengthwise.

HHT-3 - catch&pop: When it is dragged across the edge a bit, the edge catches the hair and pops it. The severed part will jump away.

HHT-4 - pop: The hair is popped immediately when it touches the edge. It still jumps away.

HHT-5 - silent slicer: The hair falls silently as soon as it touches the edge.
